Hi, I’m Patty, Mrs. Car Guy DVD’s. Most of you know Howard, producer of “Car Guy” DVDs, and what a personality he is.
Can you imagine being with him for over fifty years? When we met my name was Patty Page and at first Howard didn’t believe me,
and asked to see my driver’s license. He has always been a “car guy”,
having completely rebuilt his first car, a 1948 Ford convertible, before he was old enough to drive.
I thought cars were something you just used to get from one place to another, but I quickly learned differently.
For those of us that grew up in the forties and fifties, the automobile was a large part of the American Dream and the Corvette,
being the first American sports car and introduced in 1953, was a big part of that dream.
I had a ’73 Corvette that we bought in 1973. I drove it until 1993 when Howard retired and the company wanted his company car back,
so I gave up my Corvette and he gave up his street rod and we bought a family car.
A few years ago we finally replaced “my” Corvette with a red 1970 convertible.
I think all Corvettes should be red and the top should go down.
This is just the car for me, at least that’s what Howard tells me.
Have you ever noticed how our husbands get us the car they want?
I will agree, at this point in our lives, it is just the kind of Corvette we like.
It has the 350ci, 300hp numbers matching engine, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, power windows,
AM/FM radio, factory leather seats and of course, factory air conditioning.
We spent a good bit of time getting the restoration to this point and got a “First Junior” award with it the first time we had it
judged by the Antique Auto Club of America, which is the best you can do on a first judging. The second time we had the car
judged it received a SENIOR award which is their top level.
I have enjoyed getting to know so many of you and reading your stories through these “Cars and Cruisers” articles,
and visit all the shows through the magic of “Car Guy” DVD’s.
