Carlos and Filomena are part of the Downtown Mooresville Cruise-In’s national fan base by way of the
Cruise-In web-site and their “Car Guy” DVDs.
I met them years ago and see them in Reno, Nevada each year at Hot August Nights when I’m there making
my annual “Car Guy” DVD of the event. Since they enjoy my products and are supporters of mine, they have
become interested in Mooresville and where I live. Therefore, I thought it would be appropriate to
include them in the “Cars & Cruisers” portion of the web-site.
Carlos and Filomena are true “Car Guys” driving their beautiful black ’57 Ford Thunderbird where ever they take it.
They will drive the car about five hundred miles the week of Hot August Nights alone.
They bought the car in 1986.
Maybe the biggest thrill the car has brought them was in 2008 when they were awarded the Celebrity
Choice Award presented by the Bonanza Hotel Casino. When you consider that there are sixty-five hundred
cars participating in the event, that was quite an honor.
(Also in the picture of them and the trophy is their good friend Penny Silva.) I think that will tell you
how nice their car is and how well they maintain it. The car is basically restored original with it’s original
312 engine and has just a few custom features to personalize the car and set it apart.
